The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
