The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.
