Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 God told him, "Get out of the garden; you are rejected 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 except for Your chosen servants." 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
