The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the books are spread, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
