The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel, 2 From Allah, Owner of the ascending steps. 3 To Him the angels and the Spirit mount up, in a day whereof the measure is fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 They see the (Day) indeed as a far-off (event): 6 but We see it near at hand. 7 Upon the day when heaven shall be as molten copper 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 no loyal friend shall question loyal friend, 10 Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help)], - the Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever, etc.) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children. 11 his companion (wife), his brother, 12 And his kin that harboured him 13 And all those who are in the earth – then only if the redemption saves him! 14 No, in truth, it is a Furnace! 15 Plucking out (his being) right to the skull!- 16 and it shall call him who withdrew and turned his back 17 And collect (wealth) and hide it (from spending it in the Cause of Allah). 18 ۞ Truly man was created very impatient;- 19 When they are afflicted, they complain, 20 but when they are fortunate, they become niggardly 21 save those that pray 22 Who are at their prayer constant. 23 who, from their wealth is a known right 24 to those who ask [for help] and to the destitute; 25 who confirm the Day of Reckoning 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's torment 27 Indeed the punishment of their Lord is not a thing to be unafraid of! 28 And those who guard their sex except from their wives and women slaves of old 29 Except with their wives and the bondwomen in their possession, for there is no reproach on them. 30 But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors;- 31 And those who keep their trusts and covenants; 32 Who uphold their testimonies, 33 and are steadfast in their prayers. 34 Those are highly honored in the Gardens. 35
