[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 177 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 178 So fear God and follow me. 179 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and cause no loss to others. 181 and [in all your dealings] weigh with a true balance, 182 do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land. 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 But they cried him lies; then there seized them the chastisement of the Day of Shadow; assuredly it was the chastisement of a dreadful day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
