The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
