He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to a rich man, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and who has fear of God, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and herbage 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
