We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 until the day of a known time." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
