Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
