The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
