The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
