The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
