If affliction befalls you, it is what your own hands have earned, but He pardons a lot. 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth, nor do you have a guardian and a helper other than Allah. 31 And among His signs are the ships that run on the sea like mountains and 32 If He wills, He causes the wind to cease, then they would become motionless on the back (of the sea). Verily, in this are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 or else He may cause them to perish because of what they have wrought; and [withal,] He pardons much. 34 those who dispute Our signs shall learn that they have no escape. 35 Now whatever ye have been given is but a passing comfort for the life of the world, and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord, 36 Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive; 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 and who, whenever tyranny afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 The recompense of a sin is a sin like it, but whosoever forgives and seeks to reform, his wage will be with Allah. Surely, He does not love the harmdoers. 40 And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
