And verily it is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter into the hearts of the guilty. 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 So it will come upon them suddenly, whilst they will be unaware. 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 and be kind to your believing followers. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 and say things which they do not act upon, 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
