Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
