In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (Here is) a surah which We have revealed and enjoined, and wherein We have revealed plain tokens, that haply ye may take heed. 1 (As for) the fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them, (giving) a hundred stripes, and let not pity for them detain you in the matter of obedience to Allah, if you believe in Allah and the last day, and let a party of believers witness their chastisement. 2 A man guilty of adultery (or fornication) shall not marry any but the woman guilty of the same or a mushrik woman, and none shall marry a woman guilty of adultery (or fornication) but the man guilty of the same or a mushrik man: such marriages are forbidden to true believers. 3 And those who launch a charge against chaste women, and produce not four witnesses (to support their allegations),- flog them with eighty stripes; and reject their evidence ever after: for such men are wicked transgressors;- 4 Save those who afterward repent and make amends. (For such) lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 5 One who accuses his wife and has no witnesses except himself shall swear four times by God that his charge is true, 6 and the fifth time, that God's curse be upon him if he is telling a lie. 7 And it shall avert the punishment from her if she bear witness before Allah four times that the thing he saith is indeed false, 8 And the fifth (oath) should be that she solemnly invokes the wrath of Allah on herself if (her accuser) is telling the truth. 9 If it were not for the bounty of Allah to you and His Mercy, and that Allah turns, and is the Wise, 10
