At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
