Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
