The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and continuous shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
