The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
