The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and a Book inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
