And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 instead of God?
