The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and continuous shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right. 38
