The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
