The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
