He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial 33 Indeed these people say: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
