HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 Thamud, 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
