The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A questioner asked about a Penalty to befall- 1 Upon the infidels -- which none would be able to repel -- 2 No one can defend him against God, the Lord of the exalted positions. 3 The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 Indeed, they see it [as] distant, 6 but We see it near. 7 [It will take place] on a Day when the sky will be like molten lead, 8 and the mountains will be like tufts of wool, 9 And not a friend shall ask a friend, 10 (Though) they shall be made to see each other. The guilty one would fain redeem himself from the chastisement of that day by (sacrificing) his children, 11 his companion wife, his brother, 12 His kindred who sheltered him, 13 And all those who are in the earth – then only if the redemption saves him! 14 No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell], 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 It shall call him who turneth back and backslideth. 17 And collected [wealth] and hoarded. 18 ۞ Indeed, mankind was created anxious: 19 when evil visits him, impatient, 20 and whenever good fortune comes to him, he grows niggardly. 21 Except the observers of prayer - 22 [and] who incessantly persevere in their prayer 23 those in whose wealth is a right known 24 For the beggar and the destitute. 25 those who firmly believe in the Day of Recompense, 26 and are fearful of the punishment of their Lord; 27 for none may ever feel secure from the punishment of their Lord; 28 who guard their privates 29 Except with their wives and the (captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (then) they are not to be blamed, 30 So those who desire more than this – it is they who are the transgressors. 31 And those who respect their trusts and covenants; 32 who testify to what they have witnessed, 33 and who are constant in their prayers. 34 Those shall be in gardens, honored. 35
