The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a Great Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
