He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grass, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
