Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a Garden on high, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 And not known my account! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
