The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
