Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
