The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
