The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 The unbelievers-- there is none to avert it-- 2 [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent. 3 To Him ascend the angels and the Spirit in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So persevere with becoming patience. 5 They see the (Day) indeed as a far-off (event): 6 while We think that it is near at hand. 7 The day the sky becomes like molten brass, 8 And the hills will be light as wool. 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help)], - the Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever, etc.) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children. 11 and of his spouse, and of his brother, 12 the kinsmen who gave him shelter, 13 And all those who are on the earth, to save himself. 14 By no means! for it would be the Fire of Hell!- 15 A remover of exteriors. 16 and it shall call him who withdrew and turned his back 17 and who accumulated wealth without spending it for a good purpose. 18 ۞ Indeed man is created very impatient, greedy. 19 When evil touches him, impatient, 20 when good visits him, grudging, 21 except those that pray, 22 Those who are constant in their prayer 23 those who give a due share of their wealth 24 for the needy and the deprived, 25 And those who accept the truth of the judgment day 26 And those who are fearful of the chastisement of their Lord-- 27 the punishment of their Lord is not something for them to feel secure of, 28 who guard their privates 29 save from their wives and what their right hands own, then not being blameworthy 30 but any who seeks to go beyond that, it is indeed they who are the transgressors, 31 (Those) who keep their trusts and their covenant, 32 Who uphold their testimonies, 33 and who guard their prayers [from all worldly intent]. 34 Those shall be in gardens, honored. 35
