The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
