The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
