Elucidated (Fussilat)

54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Ha. Mim. 1 This is a revelation from the Compassionate, the Merciful. 2 a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge, 3 proclaiming good news and a warning. Yet most of them turn away and so do not listen. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say: 'I am only a mortal, like you are. To me it has been revealed that your God is One God; so go straight with Him, and ask for His forgiveness; and woe to the idolaters 6 who do not pay charity and disbelieve in the Everlasting Life. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off. 8
