Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning unto humankind 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 about the sinners. 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
