The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
