And when he reached his full strength and was ripe, We gave him wisdom and knowledge. Thus do We reward the good. 14 Once he entered the city at a time when its people were heedless, and he encountered two men fighting, one of whom belonged to his own people and the other to his foes. Now the man belonging to Moses' own people cried out to him for help against the man from the foes, and Moses struck him with his fist and finished him. Moses said: "This is an act of Satan. Surely he is an enemy who openly misleads." 15 Forgive me, my Lord, for I have wronged myself' and so He forgave him; for He is indeed the Forgiving, the Most Merciful. 16 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast bestowed a favor on me, I shall never be a backer of the guilty. 17 In the morning he came to the city, fearful and hesitant. Just then he who had asked him for help the day before called out for help (again). "You are indeed a meddlesome fellow," Moses said to him. 18 When he wanted to catch the one who was an enemy to them both, the man said, "Moses, do you want to kill me just as you killed a man yesterday? You only want to become a tyrant in the land; you do not want to set things right." 19 A man came running from the far side of the city, and said, "Moses, the authorities are conspiring to kill you, so leave the city. I am one of your well-wishers." 20 So he went forth from thence, looking fearfully about him, and prayed: "O my Sustainer! Save me from all evildoing folk!" 21
