The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
