50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 storming tempestuously 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 to excuse some and warn others: 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 Then when the stars lose their lights; 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 and when the Messengers' time is set, 11 For what Day was it postponed? 12 one will be told, "To the Day of Distinction". 13 And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 Then did We follow them up with later ones. 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you from an abject fluid? 20 and place it in a secure place 21 for an appointed term? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 For the living and the dead. 26 And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 Depart to that you cried was lies! 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 and yellow camels. 33 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 This is the Day of Judgement. We have assembled you all together with past generations. 38 If now ye have any craft, try that craft upon Me. 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
