And whosoever blindeth himself to the admonition of the Compassionate, We assign unto him a satan, and he becometh his companion. 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 Until when he comes before Us he will say (to the devil): "Would to God there was a distance of the East and West between you and me, for you were an evil companion!" 38 And since you were unjust, it will not profit you this day that you are sharers in the chastisement. 39 What, will you make the deaf hear, or guide the blind and he who is in clear error? 40 Whether We take thee away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 or We show you a part of that which We have promised them, for indeed We have power over them. 42 So hold thou fast to that which is inspired in thee. Lo! thou art on a right path. 43 And it is undoubtedly an honour for you and your people; and you will soon be questioned. 44 And ask those of Our apostles whom We sent before you: Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent Allah? 45
