The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a fitting requital, 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
