The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and shade extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virginal, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
