Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
