The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
