So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
